GCIDA Hosts Workshop for UNESCO Category 2 Centres in Korea
On 19–20 November 2024, the Global Research and Training Centre for Internationally Designated Areas (GCIDA) hosted the fourth-quarter meeting and workshop of Korea’s UNESCO Category 2 Centres in Jeju.
The event brought together over 40 participants, including directors and staff from UNESCO Category 2 Centres across the country. Participants shared recent updates on international cooperation activities and explored strategies aligned with UNESCO’s global priorities.
The programme featured expert presentations on current global UNESCO trends, integrated management of internationally designated areas, and the value of World Heritage. A special lecture highlighting the volcanic heritage of Jeju drew particular interest, underscoring the significance of preserving natural heritage.
