Importance of Field Interpretation in Multi-Internationally Designated Areas Highlighted, Strengthening Cooperation Across Different Interpretive Fields
The UNESCO Global Research and Training Centre for Internationally Designated Areas (GCIDA) successfully held the "Multi-Internationally Designated Areas Field Practitioners (Interpreters) Workshop" in Jeju Island from December 18th to 20th.
This workshop consisted of theoretical lectures on the four Internationally Designated Areas (UNESCO World Natural Heritage, UNESCO Biosphere Reserves, UNESCO Global Geoparks, and Ramsar Wetlands), as well as a field trip to Jeju’s Biyangdo Island and group discussions.
Over 30 field interpreters, including natural environment interpreters, geopark interpreters, cultural tourism interpreters, and World Natural Heritage interpreters, participated in the workshop. During this time, they discussed integrated interpretation strategies for multi-internationally designated areas and sought solutions to common challenges.
GCIDA stated that the workshop would help strengthen the expertise in the interpretation of Multi-Internationally Designated Areas (MIDAs) and contribute to the conservation and sustainable use of Internationally Designated Areas.
